“Eating fruits and vegetables with white flesh may lower stroke risk, according to a study of more that 20,000 adults.  Researchers discovered that every 25-gram increase in such fruits and vegetables (think apples, bananas, and cauliflower) that participants ate per day was associated with a 9 percent decrease in stroke risk. (a medium apple is about 180 grams).” Source: Stroke, November, 2011
