Suffering from Migraines?

Health » By Reed Hanson posted on January 17, 2012 No Comments »

“Migraine sufferers, take note:  Exercise was found to be just as effective as relaxation therapy and medication when it came to preventing migraines.  In a study of adults with diagnosed migraines, researchers learned that 40 minutes of aerobic exercise three times a week reduced the frequency of attacks about as much as both relaxation and daily doses of topiramate (an antiepliptic drug that treats migraines).  The findings are important because exercise is virtually a risk-free way to manage migraines–unlike topiramate, which can have side effects.  Source: Cephalalgia, Sept. 2, 2011

“98% of Americans do not eat the recommended seven to nine servings of fruits and vegetables each day.  What might surprise you even more is that, even when you try to do the right thing, the nutritional value of our produce isn’t what is used to be.  In fact, a 2004 study of 43 crops showed a decline in the nutrient content of up to 38% over the past 50 years.”  By carefully selecting a premium quality food supplement you can improve your overall nutritional intake each day.  For more info click here.

Headline of article by Linda A. Johnson of The Associated Press: ” Johnson & Johnson steadily removing toxins from baby products” – phrases like “continuing efforts to get rid of traces of two potentially cancer-causing chemicals from products . . . .”.  Just get rid of it and don’t keep the products on the market while “continuing efforts” are made.  If it is potentially cancer-causing do the responsible thing and take the products off the market.  Consider products that are safe click here.

Vitamins You Can Trust

Health » By Reed Hanson posted on November 14, 2011 No Comments »

If you read my posts you quickly understand that I am really into food supplements, resveratrol, soy protein, etc.  I am biased because this has been both my interest and my business for over 45 years.  While I am certainly not all-knowing, I have learned some important things.  First, and the point of this post is, you cannot trust 90% of the companies selling vitamins and herbal products.

Your body contains trillions of cells.  Billions of new cells are created every day.  Each cell is like a high-performance engine.  It needs high-quality raw materials (nutrients) to function properly.  The quantity and quality of nutrients you ingest affects every system in your body: cardiovascular and digestive, muscular and skeletal, lymphatic and endocrine, reproductive, urinary, and even your nervous system.  In other words, how you look, feel, and perform is directly affected by your daily nutrient intake.  For information on an important breakthrough in nutritional supplementation, click here.

Be Careful What You Snack On!!!

“Eating fat turns on a particular pleasure pathway in mice that encourages the rodents to eat even more fat in a self-reinforcing pattern that could lead to obesity, researchers report.  Fat digestion in the small intestines of mice triggered endocannabinoids, chemicals that coordinate the sensations of hunger and reward in the brain.  Protein and carbohydrates, though, failed to elicit the same response.  The authors speculate that if medication were developed to shut down the endocannabinoid system in the gut, it could help people stop eating too much fat food.”  Source: Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, July 4-8, 2011
